Fmr. Campaign Treasure for Cohoes Mayor Pleads Guilty to Stealing Funds

The former longtime Campaign Treasurer for embattled Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse pleads guilty to conspiring to steal campaign contributions. Ralph Signoracci admitted in federal court Thursday morning to withdrawing funds from political action committee bank accounts so that Morse could use the funds to pay for his personal expenses, including vacations, entertainment and home repairs.

Morse was arraigned last week on an indictment charging him with wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and making a false statement to the FBI. Morse has denied the charges and has vowed to continue as Cohoes' mayor.

The Common Council has passed a resolution calling on Morse to resign or take a leave of absence.
