A big crowd at the Cohoes Senior Center Thursday night, as Mayor Shawn Morse made his first public appearance since his arrest on federal conspiracy and wire fraud charges one week ago.
But this wasn't about the mayor or his legal problems.
Morse hosted a forum on the future of the city's Community Center, which closed without warning last fall because of on-going financial problems.
The meeting got heated at times, as residents wanted to know how the center ended up $375,000 in debt with the DA's office investigating everything.
One solution, from Morse, is to move the city's public library into the community center.
State money could be available.
Assemblyman John McDonald has secured $500,000, but says it has to be used by the city or a school district.
