Schumer in Lake George to Advocate for New Wastewater Treatment Plant

Senator Chuck Schumer says he'll do everything possible to help the village of Lake George get the money to replace an 85-year-old wastewater treatment plant.

The state has ordered the village to replace it, but a new system could cost as much as $25 million.

So far, the village has come up with $7.5 million in grants.

Schumer says Lake George is worth saving.

The plant must be replaced by 2021.

Schumer says he will be asking the state to put Lake George on top of the list for Clean Water Act Funding, which could supply millions more.

Mayor Bob Blais says he's sure they'll get what they need, but if they can't get more funding, Lake George businesses would face around $12,000 annually in new taxes.
