Clerical Error Sends Colonie Woman to Jail for Three Days

A Colonie woman found herself locked up at the Albany County jail on Easter weekend because of a clerical error, and now she's looking for an apology.

Sheriff Craig Apple says Colonie cops got a call Friday night about a troubled customer at a pizza shop, Jessica Donovan. On a routine check, they found a Family Court warrant for her arrest, but the judge had put the wrong name down on the "defendant" line when he filled out the warrant, and Donovan was taken into custody.

The judge in question is said to be "mortified" by the incident. A Court Administration spokesman says it's tough to mitigate human error, but they're looking into the possibility of additional safeguards.
