The trial of NXIVM co-founder Keith Raniere continues in a Brooklyn federal courthouse.
Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo says he knows Raniere has an uphill fight ahead.
In opening statements on Tuesday, prosecutors described Reniere as a con man and predator, and say he pretended to be a self-improvement guru.
Raniere's defense lawyers admit he had sex with many of the women but they say that's not a crime, and said the women had a good time playing volleyball and having barbecues.
Raniere is accused of exploiting, branding and starving young women whom he allegedly kept as sex slaves.
The trial is expected to last several weeks.
