Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan is in Israel this week.
Her visit is part of a trip organized by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the American Jewish Committee's Project Interchange.
According to the American Jewish Committee, the trip is intended to give mayors a first-hand understanding of Israel.
In a statement, Sheehan said she's looking forward to learning about how other cities are moving forward with economic development, revitalizing neighborhoods and celebrating cultural heritage.
This is the third time Sheehan has made a foreign trip since taking office.
She's expected to return to Albany this weekend.
