State Lawmakers Urged to Stop Rising Costs of Prescription Drugs

The cost of prescription drugs is increasing big time, and AARP wants state lawmakers to do something about it.

Senior Activists say they want to see several things, including cheaper generic drugs in New York State, and they want the state Attorney General to have more power to go after drug makers who might be engaged in price gouging.

In many cases, they say New Yorkers are forced to choose between medicine and food.

According to the red-shirted AARP members, brand-name drug prices went up on average close to 8 1/2% between 2006 and 2017.
