Guilderland Community Comes Together to Grieve After Murder-Suicide

A prayer service in Guilderland Tuesday night, as neighbors came together to try and understand the unthinkable.

27-year-old Caitlin Melville shot and killed her five-year-old daughter last Friday at their home on Schoolhouse Road, and then turned the gun on herself.

Service was held at Redeemer Church, just a short distance away from Melville's house.

Among those on hand, Ben Elmore, who says it's a chance to speak about how best to talk to their own children about what happened.

Pastor Scott Packard says he reached out to Caitlin Melville's family.

He says they asked for a prayer for peace and for healing in their family.

Police have not been able to come up with a motive.
