Earlier this week, Gov. Cuomo publicly stated that with time running out in the legislative session, and a lack of support in the State Senate, a measure to legalize recreational marijuana was not feasible this year.
But there are indications that the bill may not be dead just yet, and is still under negotiations at the staff level.
Advocates and opponents both rally at the Capitol on Wednesday.
Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes says it's too soon to give up.
At a separate rally, opponents questioned the safety of the measure.
New versions of the bills have been introduced with some key changes, state tax on sales increased and the amount someone could legally possess decreased.
