Albany Celebrates Gay Pride With a Parade & Festival

The city of Albany took time on Sunday to celebrate gay rights with a parade and festival.

Thousands showed their support for the LGBTQ community as rainbow flags lined Lark Street and all of Washington Park.

People waved flags and held up signs in a show of support.

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at the event, saying "there is hatred out there."

Hochul hopes Gov. Cuomo signs two more gay rights bills before the legislative session ends.

A "World Pride" parade is set for June 30th in New York City to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
