Remnants of Barry Hits Capital Region Ahead of Yet Another Hot Spell

Remains of Tropical Storm Barry passed by the area Wednesday night, and it still packed a punch.

Reports indicate the storm had wind gusts of up to 60 miles an hour, and quarter sized hail.

At one point, a tornado warning was issued for parts of eastern Columbia and Berkshire counties.

National Grid says power was out to about 1,800 customers in Rotterdam and Schenectady Wednesday night, but everything has now been restored.

Meanwhile, the weekend is shaping up to be one of the hottest of the summer....

Thursday afternoon: clouds and occasional sun with a shower or thunderstorm around; humid, high 79.

Thursday night: mostly cloudy, warm and humid, low 69.

Friday: turning hotter with intervals of clouds and sunshine, high 91, (A thunderstorm or two around late in the day)

Saturday: very hot and humid with partial sunshine, high 95 (The record of 97 was last reached in 1991.)

Sunday: cloudy to partly sunny, hot and humid with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm in the afternoon, high 91

Monday: variable clouds and not as hot with a shower or thunderstorm possible. high 81
