Fatal Crash in Washington County

State police late Monday afternoon, said a patrol car being driven by 24 year old Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Cori Winch, crossed the center line on Route 40, and struck a car head on, being driven by 72 year old Susan Harrington of Argyle . Harrington was pronounced dead at the scene, Winch was taken to Glens Falls Hospital, with a broken leg, a concussion,and hip injuries. Cause of the accident remains under investigation.

According to reports one person was killed in the crash involving a Washington County sheriff's officer.

The accident happened around 6:30 Monday morning, and closed part of Route 40 in Argyle between West Street and Lick Springs Road.

The Post-Star reports one person died and the sheriff's officer was taken to Glens Falls Hospital. The accident closed part of Route 40 between West Street and Lick Springs Road until early Monday afternoon.
