New Poll Says NYS Residents Are Excited for the Holiday Season to Arrive

Siena Research Institute is out with a new holiday poll that says more than 70% of New Yorkers are either somewhat or very excited about the season.

The poll says nearly half of New Yorkers statewide plan to spend $500 or more on gifts this year, and 20% plan to spend $1,000 or more.

Close to 60% of upstate residents say they plan to do at least some of their Christmas shopping on-line.

72% will put up a Christmas tree, most prefer artificial.

And 30% of New Yorkers across the state, a similar number upstate, say they're good with old St. Nick.

Not surprisingly, most who say they believe are those with children in the household.
