Bail Set for Cohoes Man Charged With Manslaughter in Death of His Toddler

A Cohoes man facing manslaughter charges after his son's death made a first court appearance on Thursday.

Police say Anthony Ojeda did not call for help when 6-week-old Eli Ojeda-Harmon suddenly became ill and died on Tuesday.

Court documents indicate the child died after he ingested some methamphetamine.

No word on how the infant was able to get hold of the drug.

Ojeda is also charged with assault in connection with an incident in November in which the infant suffered several broken ribs.

In court, city judge Thomas Marcelle set bail at $100,000.

Ojeda will appear in court again Monday.
