The bail reform battle goes on.

Democrats in the State Senate say they're open to making changes, but Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie is in no hurry to do anything.

The law went into effect January 1st, eliminating pre-trial detention and cash bail for a large number of cases.

The Senate compromise includes the elimination of cash bail and more leeway for judges in deciding who should be held before trial.

Glenville police chief Stephen Janik, who issued a lengthy condemnation of the new law earlier this week, says he's on board

However, Heastie says there's a need to differentiate fact from fiction and not be taken in by sensationalism.

Gov. Cuomo has also said he's open to changes in the new law.
