The number of flu cases is continuing to rise across New York State, and state health officials say we could be headed for a record year.
There were 17,000 confirmed cases of the virus last week, bringing the statewide total to just over 106,000.
The Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Peter's, Dr. Robert Brewer says this has been a tough season.
Despite the intense coverage surrounding the coronavirus, Dr. Brewer says the flu is actually a much bigger threat.
A graduate student at RPI died earlier this week from a case of the flu.
He says getting a flu shot and washing your hands are the best ways to keep from getting sick.
