New York Coronavirus cases top 700, one new death

As the Governor provided updated numbers on the coronavirus, he implored President Trump to activate the military to aid in the mitigation of the crisis. Speaking from the Red Room, Cuomo said the U.S. should use Army Corps of Engineers to expand hospital capacity, by retrofitting military bases and college dorms to serve as temporary medical centers. He argues that would free up hospital beds for the acutely ill.

Since the update provided Saturday evening, there were 69 new cases statewide as of the 12:30 pm press conference.

  • Albany County - 3 new, 8 total. Albany County Executive Dan McCoy released a statement prior to the press conference confirming Albany County now has 11 confirmed cases.
  • Delaware County - 0 new, 1 total
  • Dutchess County - 3 new, 7 total
  • Greene County - 2 new, 2 total
  • Montgomery County - 1 new, 1 total
  • Saratoga County - 0 new, 3 total
  • Schenectady County - 0 new, 2 total
  • Ulster County - 0 new, 5 total

The Governor also announcing New York's 3rd death from the coronavirus. The 79 year old woman died Sunday in New York City. She was admitted to the hospital last week and also suffered from "multiple major health issues".
