Governor Cuomo says New York now has over 30,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 285 related deaths.

The bulk of them are still within New York City, which has nearly 18,000 cases.

Cuomo says the rate of spread has not yet begun to slow, with 5,000 new cases since just Tuesday, but he does express optimism with regards to the slowing hospitalization rate.

The governor also shared his theory that the closeness of New York communities, and how densely populated they are, greatly contributed to the spread of coronavirus.
