REPORT: NYRA Plans to Race this Summer in Saratoga

The New York Racing Association plans to hold horse racing this Summer in Saratoga, either with or without fans.Thoroughbred Daily News is reporting that as long as racing is approved to continue in New York by the expected opening date of July 16, the meet would still be held as scheduled.

NYRA's Senior Vice President of Racing tells TDN that the belief is that more people would wager on spectator-free racing at Saratoga over the authority's downstate racetracks. Under that scenario, a big debate would then take place over moving the required workers and animals from other facilities and in to the Saratoga Race Course grounds and the wider Saratoga community.
