Some Albany County lawmakers want to end the county’s four-year experiment with sparklers and other types of legal fireworks:

Nine days after July 4th, legislation will be introduced that would prohibit the use and sale of all fireworks in Albany County.Sponsors say it’s both a safety and quality-of-life issue, as a combination of legal and illegal-in-New York fireworks purchased out of state, have caused sleepless nights for many residents in the Capital Region.Legislature Chairman Andrew Joyce says banning all fireworks will make it easier for law enforcement to crack down on people who shatter the peace.
