After months of delays, NXIVM leader Keith Raniere's prison sentence has been handed down.

Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison and fined $1,750,000.

The founder of the Capital Region-based cult was convicted last year on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Officials say he created NXIVM to gain power over women, claims that Raniere and his attorney's have denied. Prosecutors had asked that he receive a life sentence for his crimes.

Already sentenced in the case is Seagram's heiress Clare Bronfman. She will serve 81 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges including illegally providing the group financial support.

Late last week, a judge ruled against a second request by Raniere's defense team for a new trial.
