The Capital Region is continuing to see a rapid rise in the number of new coronavirus cases.

Right now, the area's COVID-19 positivity rate is closing in on 8.5%. There were over 1,000 new infections reported in the eight-county yesterday alone, with 640 of them coming from Schenectady County. Nine more residents have also died after contracting the illness. Governor Cuomo said Monday people in the region need to change their behaviors to prevent things from getting worse.
