Woman’s Husband Upset She Stopped Wearing Makeup On Sundays

These days most of us barely put on pants, let alone makeup, but one woman’s husband is not at all happy that she’s decided to change her beauty routine.

A woman recently shared that she’s been married for 22 years, and has always kept up with a pretty extensive beauty routine, that includes showering, shaving her legs and spending close to an hour putting on makeup and doing her hair. But she notes that she’s now “tired of it,” and decided to skip the whole routine, but on Sunday’s only.

She says now on Sundays she just throws her hair in a ponytail, puts on a casual outfit, and forgets the makeup, insisting that even on those “low key” days she looks "better than half the women I encounter out and about in public,” but apparently that’s not enough for her husband.

The OP says her husband keeps throwing a “fit” about her makeup free Sundays, insisting he showers every day so she should keep up as well. "He says it's not fair of me to change things in the middle of the game like this," she explained. "I say it's not fair of him to expect me to tart myself all up every. single. day. Who is right here?"

As you can imagine, the OP thinks her hubby is being “ridiculous” and most people agree that he is.

  • "Sounds like you have some problems with your spouse," one person noted. "He should love and care for you whether you have makeup on or not."
  • "This is why I have deliberately never set too high a bar with makeup," another added. " It's just not worth it."

But some suggested the OP is partly to blame for getting herself into such a situation in the first place.

  • “I have a hard eye roll every time I see 'husband won't let me,'" one person commented. "He isn't your father and you are not 4. If he wants to whine on Sundays, let him know that he can find somewhere else to sleep or you will ... You are your own person."
  • Another added, "I'm having a hard time mustering a lot of sympathy for [the letter writer], due to the fact that she seems very interested, even at what must be a reasonably mature age, in comparing herself to other women who are just going about their daily business.”
