Hotels in New York state could soon be forced to stop giving out free plastic toiletries.

On Monday, the state senate was scheduled to vote on a ban that would stop hotels from using the environmentally unfriendly bottles for things like shampoo, liquid soap and mouthwash.

The assembly approved the bill last week. If signed by Governor Cuomo, it would go into effect by 2024 for large hotels and 2025 for small hotels.
