Effective immediately, New York State has authorized the use of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for residents between the ages of 12 and 15.

The announcement came Wednesday night after the vaccine was approved by the state's Clinical Advisory Task Force. Its use also has the support of the Food and Drug Administration and federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Health officials hope vaccinating people in this age group will help New York win the battle against coronavirus.
