One Saratoga Springs official is blaming recent violence there on both the social justice movement and gang members coming from Albany to the Spa City.

Assistant Police Chief John Catone believes people want to engage in confrontations with police because some critics have labeled officers as racist, something he says is a lie. He also said a brawl that happened over the weekend on Caroline Street may have been the result of a dispute between gangs. Catone is asking City Council members for support in hiring additional officers and for help in getting Saratoga County deputies more involved in patrolling the streets.
