A paraglider had to be rescued after he flew directly into high tension power lines. It happened late Monday afternoon when the pilot flying his paraglider over Indian Ladder Farms in New Scotland became entangled in the lines and was hung up for quite some time as National Grid had to shut power down to allow crews to rescue him. New Salem Fire Chief Craig Shufelt told the Times Union the man narrowly avoided being electrocuted. He was uninjured and refused any medical treatment.
