Vermont Deputy Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting Placed on Unpaid Leave

A Vermont deputy who was injured in an officer-involved shooting in Saratoga Springs has been placed on unpaid leave.

\Rutland County Sheriff David Fox has identified the deputy as Vito Caselnova and said that he does not have a disciplinary record with the department. Caselnova was shot on Sunday morning in the area of Broadway and Caroline Street after officers arrived to investigate a shootout. Caselnova refused to drop his weapon which led to police opening fire. He was brought to Albany Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive.
