With a lot of people hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, police across New York State are going to be cracking down on impaired drivers.

Increased patrols start Wednesday and run through Monday. During last year's Thanksgiving holiday period, Troopers arrested 183 people for DWI. Police are urging anyone who is planning to drink alcoholic beverages to make sure they have a safe ride home. Anyone who sees suspicious or dangerous activity out on the roads should dial 911 immediately.
