The RPI and Union men's and women's hockey teams will renew their rivalry Saturday (January 24) at the annual Capital District Mayor's Cup at MVP Arena in Albany. The doubleheader features the women's teams taking the ice at 3 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 6 p.m.
The Mayor's Cup event has become a tradition in the Capital District, bringing together two local collegiate hockey powerhouses for a day of competition. Union swept both games in last year's matchups, setting the stage for Saturday's contests as RPI looks to reclaim bragging rights.
Single-game tickets grant admission to both the women's and men's games. Adult tickets are priced at $25 when purchased in person at the MVP Arena Box Office and $36.95 when bought online through Ticketmaster. Student and youth tickets cost $18 at the box office and $26.70 online. According to Union Athletics, tickets purchased through the Union College website guarantee seats in Union-designated sections but do not allow seat selection.
Fans planning to attend should note that MVP Arena enforces a clear bag policy, allowing only clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. Small clutch bags up to 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches are also permitted. The venue operates cashless concessions, accepting credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Parking is available at the MVP Arena Parking Garage for $20 per vehicle, with a 6-foot-6-inch clearance limit. Re-entry is allowed until the start of the men's game at 6 p.m., with fans needing to obtain a hand stamp from security before exiting.
The Union bench will be located in Section 104, while the RPI bench will be in Section 106. All ticket sales are final with no refunds, exchanges, or upgrades permitted.
