I don’t know what came over me. At the last minute, I decided to host a Royal Wedding watch party at my house. At 6 am. I remember being 8 years old, and getting up with my mom at 4 in the morning to watch Princess Diana walk down the aisle, and thought it would be fun to watch this one with my own daughter.
We invited friends over. Four girls and four moms… all wearing pajamas, pearls, fascinators (those funny hats every woman in the church seemed to be wearing) and tiaras. We had tea, mimosas (the grownups only), scones, and even a mini wedding cake and cupcakes with the royal couple’s monogram (thank you, Coccadotts!). I broke out the wedding china, silver, and crystal that never sees the light of day, and got hydrangeas for the table.
It was fun, and a memory our girls will look back on when they watch Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis get married in the wee hours of the morning with their own little girls.
