Queen Bee Syndrome; Women Being Bullied by Women at Work

You would think that woman would look out for each other in the office, motivating each other to get ahead. Well, that isn't happening.

A new report published in the “Journal of Development and Learning Organizations,” finds that two-thirds of women say are bullied by females at the office. And, 70% say that bullying came from female professionals trying to block their ambition to climb the ladder.

Queen Bee Syndrome is when women use their social intelligence to manipulate relationships or damage colleagues’ reputations. This can be the biggest hindrance to women advancing at their job. The study also says that Queen Bees are women who treat colleagues in an undermining, demoralizing or bullying manner. They're adult versions of the mean girls from school.

And companies want to keep an eye out for such Queen Bee scenarios because it can be bad for business. The study notes that such behavior can result in reduced productivity, lower profitability and reduced rate of employee satisfaction.
