A great Thanksgiving story for a local man involving his late father. Three weeks ago, someone stole Michael Cranker's backpack from his pick-up that was parked outside his home in Schenectady. Inside the backpack was a very small urn containing the ashes of his father who died 2 years ago. Cranker says he always carried the ashes with him.
Cranker was starting to come to the realization that the ashes might be gone forever when suddenly the urn turned up ending up in the security department at Ellis Hospital. And just like that - Michael Cranker had a little piece of his dad back.
The hospital says for patient confidentiality reasons they can't say just how they got the urn, but they're glad it's back in Michael Cranker's hands.
