Parents Fight For Armed Monitors in Saratoga Schools

Kelly and I had a great talk with Kara Rosettie of a new group, Saratoga Parents for Safer Schools.  Last fall the Saratoga Board of Education, with little notice to parents, decided to get rid of armed grounds monitors in the district despite the fact that they have served proudly and without incident for decades.  Even worse, they did so with virtually no input from the public.  Parents, who feel their kids are safer with good guys patrolling school grounds, asked the board to reconsider.  The board said "no".  What Saratoga Parents for Safer Schools did next should make all Americans proud regardless of how they feel about the issue.  They did their research, talked to experts and will endorse at least 3 candidates running for the Board of Ed in May.  A great lesson on democracy in action. - Chuck
