Governor Cuomo is changing his Thanksgiving plans. During a press conference in Long Island, Cuomo said he won't be celebrating Thanksgiving with his 89-year-old mother. Governor Cuomo says he told his mom they would be apart for Thanksgiving, due to coronavirus concerns. He said he explained the situation to his mother Matilda, who then called back again, insisting they all get together.

After insisting for weeks that New Yorkers should limit gatherings to members of their own household and keep things small, Cuomo took some heat during an interview when he said he had invited his 89-year-old mother for dinner. The reaction was predictable outrage.

Cuomo says he sleeps better at night telling himself this is a truly unique Thanksgiving, adding everyone should remember first responders and essential workers throughout the holidays.

Cuomo's spokesperson said he now planned to work through the holiday.
