There is quite the success story in Albany involving a woman who used to be homeless but now owns two restaurants. And now, she's paying it forward. Emriss Young had a failed restaurant and no place to live before turning her life around and now she is giving away meals on Thanksgiving to 250 people. You need a ticket, but they are free. If you need a free meal on Thanksgiving, you can stop by her restaurant "Kitchen 216" located at 85 Central Avenue. She still has a few tickets left.
A couple of women in Tennessee were antique shopping when they found a bunch of love letters written between a World War 2 soldier and his then girlfriend. They bought all 21 letters and went home to read them.
They wanted to know whatever happened to the couple, so they did some research and found out that they did get married when the war ended and they had four children.
Both have since passed away, but the women found their grown children all the way in New Jersey and reached out to them. The women flew up to New Jersey to hand deliver the letters to the family.
Finally, a Pittsburgh teacher is motivating her students with a little music. She has re-written the words to Lizzo's song "Truth Hurts". She then taught them to her second graders.
The original lyrics were quite graphic, but she changed the song to include lines like "Let's be great, 'cuz I know we are great" and "I just took an ELA test, turns out I'm 100 percent that smart."
The kids say the song makes them feel happy and loved.
