DOUG: All Rise! Trial Date set for 'Wilton Woody" Phallic Statue

Mark your calendars, just in case. October 1st – that’s the trial date that was set for Wilton Woody. Who/what is “Wilton Woody” you ask? Having just moved to the Capital Region this year, I asked the same question. Wilton Woody is a 7 ft. penis woodcarving that Jamie Gagne erected in his front yard as a protest against a building inspector. (Said inspector shut down Gagne while he was in the midst of replacing a burnt out workshop.)

In setting the trial date, the judge in the case told the two parties that he hoped/wanted the two parties involved to resolve this before it ever gets to trial. Here’s hoping they don’t.

Think about the pun headlines, the silly euphemisms, and the tawdry testimony that such a trial would bring. Think about Gagne’s attorney saying, “Your honor I’d like to draw your attention to the back of the courtroom where we have Exhibit A being brought in…” and then the statue in question battering rams the courtroom door as several court officers carry in the seven-foot statue. This is a Will Ferrell movie just waiting to happen! But we need an actual trial first. October 1st, let’s make it happen! -Doug
