FOX News contributor Joe Concha had an excellent column this week for The Hill in which he talked about how POTUS Biden gave a totally unqualified Pete Buttigieg a really important job in his administration – Transportation Secretary – and eight months in and we have major supply chain issues that Pete has no handle on.
What makes this column fascinating is it came out the same week that we found out that then Governor Andrew Cuomo tried to get then Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul a position in the same Biden administration.
When they suggested she become Ambassador to Ireland, they were laughed out of the room. The same thing happened when the Ambassadorship to Canada was brought up. Biden’s people finally suggested Hochul become “Undersecretary of Commerce,” but by that time the Cuomo fall had already been set in motion and Hochul stayed put.
So here we are as a country struggling with major supply chain issues, and the question is: why? Well, maybe one reason is that our Secretary of Transportation is in no way “qualified” to be Secretary of Transportation (as Biden himself said during the campaign), and a person who was deemed unfit to be Ambassador to Ireland by the same Biden administration was then offered the #2 position in the Commerce Department.
Transportation and Commerce… those two departments would seem to have some bearing on the supply chain, yes? Yet it would appear that the President-elect did not give those departments nearly as much respect and concern back in January as he did ambassadorships.
You would think that a guy with 40 years of experience would have known better, but alas…
