A barista at a Texas Starbucks helps to protect a teen by writing her a note on a coffee cup. The mother of a Texas teenager is grateful to the staff at a Corpus Christi Starbucks for stepping in when they thought a young customer was in need of help. Brandy Selim Roberson posted on Facebook that her daughter was studying by herself in Starbucks on Saturday night when a man she didn’t know approached her. The man was being loud and lingering near the teen.

That’s when a Starbucks barista came over to the table and gave the teen a cup saying it was an extra hot chocolate that another customer never picked up. On the cup was written, “Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.” Roberson says her daughter looked toward the counter where a row of baristas stood ready to step in if she needed help. She let them know that she was okay.

Roberson expressed gratitude for the employees and hopes the story will have a positive impact. “This reaffirms my faith in humanity,” Roberson says. “Maybe just seeing this story, others, if given the opportunity to say something or turn away, they would say something.”
