Efforts to change the Mario Cuomo Bridge name back to the Tappan Zee Bridge appear to be failing. Democrats blocked the name change bill from moving out of committee Monday. There's bipartisan support to switch the name back after Governor Andrew Cuomo resigned last summer.
It's unclear why the bill was blocked but the New York Post reports Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli commented at a meeting that now is not the right moment given the cost and time involved with a name change.
