Doug's Blog: Election 2022, What Happened?!

2022 Midterm Election in USA

The answer to that question is ‘what always happens’ is what happened. We had an election in New York, the Democrat won… lather, rinse, repeat. At some point the numbers are just too much to overcome, and Lee Zeldin joins a long list of candidates who worked super-hard, had a good message, got people motivated, and then everybody receded to their predictable defeated corners. A good rule of thumb in any election is ‘what’s the front page of the local tabloid have on it the day after Election Day’, that’s usually a pretty good indicator of how the day went. Well, the front page of the New York Post the day after the election was a picture of the guy who won the election in FLORIDA, not New York, so I think that gives us a pretty good indication of how things went for Republicans here.

And here’s something to think about: do you think it’s going to get any easier for a Republican to win in the future? Consider these two facts: 1. The people that are leaving this state in droves – New York Flight – are much more likely to vote Republican, and now they’re gone. 2. The people that are being bused and flown into New York – migrants from Texas and Florida- are much more likely to vote Democrat, and they are likely to get the ability to vote in New York very quickly. So in a state where Republicans already have a math problem, that problem is only going to get worse. As noted earlier: lather, rinse, repeat.
