Six Philadelphia police officers were shot while attempting to serve a narcotics warrant at a home.Two officers and three others who were trapped inside the home with the shooter were safely evacuated several hours after the standoff began. The gunman surrendered just after midnight.
All six officers wounded in the shooting have been released from the hospital. Another officer injured in a car crash on the way to the scene still remains hospitalized.
KYW-TV Philly Reporter Alexandria Hoff reported that crowds of people taunted officers as they responded to the standoff. She tweeted, “...A major moment of disappointment this evening was watching a crowd of people taunt police officers, laughing and yelling at them in the midst of the gunfire. #PhiladelphiaShooting”.
Video surfaced of what appeared to be a sizable crowd of people jeering and throwing objects at police as they dealt with the standoff.
