This is the reception John Wayne McCornyn should get after joining with the Democrats to sell us out on gun control.
At the Texas GOP convention on Friday, John Wayne McCornyn was jeered from the start of his remarks and the boo birds continued throughout.
At one point, you could hear chants of “no red flags” and “don’t take our guns” during his speech.
Cornyn defended his record on gun control, telling the crowd:
“I will not, under any circumstances, support new restrictions for law abiding gun owners. That will always be my red line. And despite what some of you may have heard, the framework that we are working on is consistent with that red line.”
One key aspect of the Cornyn pushed gun control bill would incentivizes states to adopt “red flag” laws, which allow courts to confiscate firearms from individuals deemed a threat.
Erich Pratt, a senior vice president at Gun Owners of America, warns that red flag laws “are ripe for abuse. They throw due process out the window and violate people’s rights by punishing them for what they might do.”
