Two Hudson firefighters are being praised after rescuing a kitten from a car. City firefighters were doing a training drill this past weekend when a woman came up to them and told them a kitten was stuck inside her car's rear wheel well. The woman said she was about to get in the car when she luckily heard meows. Two Hudson Fire Department Lieutenants, Conor O'Neill and Michael Weaver, responded quickly, dropping to the ground. They got the wet and frightened kitten free after a few minutes. On its Facebook page, the department reported, "While being cuddled by her rescuers, the kitten settled down and seemed to be very friendly and thankful." Fire crews brought the kitten to the AnimalKind cat shelter where it was named "Sally" and then placed in a foster home awaiting adoption.
A guy in California risked his life last year, during one of the deadliest wildfires in California History. He is an intensive care nurse at a hospital in Paradise California, where that "Camp Fire" destroyed nearly the entire town. When the fire started closing in on the hospital and they had to evacuate, he used his Toyota Tundra to shuttle patients to safety. He went back and forth multiple times, even when the flames got so close that they melted his headlights and charred his doors.
So, Toyota heard the story and sent him a brand new truck. And, they added a few things like a heavy duty roof rack, bigger tires and an on-board CO2 tank. He considered his charred doors to be a badge of honor. So, they even did a custom paint job to re-create the look of the charred doors.
