Planning the perfect proposal isn’t easy, but one man decided to have a little fun with his indecision about how and when to pop the question, and it has since gone viral.
Edi Okoro purchased a diamond ring for girlfriend Cally Read earlier this year but hadn’t decided when to pop the question. Instead he figured fate would tell him when it was the right time, so he decided to carry the ring with him everywhere he went, and then decided to have a little fun with it.
“I took the ring with me everywhere hoping the ‘moment’ would arise in line with my spontaneous style,” he shared on Facebook. “After a month or so of waiting for the right moment, I was sitting on the sofa admiring ‘my precious,’ and it hit me! … I should just start documenting these moments!”
Edi then decided to take pictures with the ring when he and Cally were out and her back was turned, figuring if she caught him he’d ask her to marry him and she’d say yes. Edi's little prank lasted a month and he recently shared a photo album of all the times he successfully snapped the ring photo without Cally knowing, including one time when she was sleeping and he put the ring in her hand.
He finally proposed on August 31st, although he didn’t say how, and now his journey to pop the question has gone viral, having been shared at least 59,000 times. Interestingly, he says Cally didn’t find out about his little stunt until “several weeks later,” sharing a photo from after the engagement and writing, “My smile is a ‘you know nothing Cally Read,’ smile.”
