A new report shows that the Cuomo administration ignored input from local medical professionals while focusing just on hospitals during the early months of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The report, prepared by the state Public Health and Health Planning committees, was based on input from local medical providers, hospitals and health department officials. The report stated that policymakers are "too often unaware of the needs" of the local population. It also says that in the future, patients should be advised to contact their primary care doctors - which could prevent disruptions in the hospital.
Also under fire in the report is the handling of nursing home covid cases by the administration. More than 6,500 people died in nursing homes in part, due to the governors requirement of nursing homes to admit covid-19 patients that had been discharged from hospitals.
