Twisted Attack in Colonie Sends Four Co-workers to Prison

Sentencing today for four men who brutally attacked a co-worker on June 5, 2016.  The men, who were in town to work as sub-contractors for a Georgia company, beat, stabbed and bit a man over a period of several hours at the Days Inn on Airport Park Boulevard.

The vicious attack sent the victim to the hospital with broken bones, multiple bite marks and multiple stab wounds.  District Attorney David Soares says during the incident the victim was even bit in the genitals.

The victim's girlfriend is related to some of the attackers.  She reportedly called a desk clerk asking them to check on her boyfriend.  That was when police were called in.

Substance abuse was presented by the defense as a factor for the exceptionally brutal attack.  There had reportedly been tension between the five men over work ethic.

On January 20, 2017 Shane McCallister, Dallas Fox, and Michael Grimmett pleaded guilty to Assault in the Second Degree.  Mark Skaggs pleaded guilty to Attempted Assault in the First Degree.

Today McCallister and Fox were sentenced to 4 years in prison, to be followed by 3 years of Post Release Supervision.

Skaggs was sentenced to 6 years in prison, to be followed by 3 years of Post Release Supervision.

According to the D.A.'s office, while in custody, Grimmett was charged with assaulting a fellow inmate, and based on that new charge, an increased sentence of 6 years in prison was imposed, to be followed by 3 years of Post Release Supervision.
