A Washington County woman will be sentenced today for beating her stepdaughter so severely that she now has permanent brain injuries.

Marissa Bickford-Rice pleaded guilty in July. She faces 13 years in prison for the attack on 4-year-old Kaiden Starr Rice last September.

Prosecutors and family members say Bickford-Rice was always jealous and angry toward Kaiden.  The sentence will also put Bickford-Rice on probation for 3 years and not let her have contact with Kaiden until she's 28.
