Legal Issues with Loretta Powers: Inmate to be Executed, Forgets Crime

The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the execution of an Alabama inmate even though he cannot remember the crime he committed. He suffered several strokes which led to the memory loss, but the court found that precedent on mental capacity doesn't prevent the execution of the inmate. Vernon Madison was sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer in 1985. He does understand that he's being executed for murder, but he can't remember the crime or the trial.
