Capital Region Awarded $85 Million for Economic Development

It's been billed as New York State's version of the "Hunger Games," in which different regions of the state compete for state grants and tax credits for dozens of projects.

On Wednesday the Capital Region was awarded $85 million in grants and tax credits.

Projects that have been proposed by the Capital Region's economic council include money to redevelop the old Starlite Theatre off of Route 9R in Colonie into housing units, office buildings and retail space.

Two other proposals are for the renovation and expansion of the Palace Theatre in Albany and the renovation of the Former Breslaw's Department Store in Schenectady.
